Micky Graham, our Assistant Manager, is also our leisure and activities coordinator. Regular activities include a weekly themed activity with poems, anecdotes or stories in which residents share their own thoughts and memories; a 'happy hour' every Fiday where residents enjoy a glass of wine or sherry; and yoga every Sunday.
Other recent activities include:
- Quizzes
- A visit to a local theatre
- Musical entertainment
- A demonstration in flower arranging
- A buffet party with bingo, and baby photos of the staff for residents to identify
- A mystery tour of the local countryside followed by a visit to a local church for a cup of tea and the opportunity to buy charity Christmas cards
We also look for ways to help and support our residents in pursuing their own leisure interests.
- A mobile library visits regularly.
- We help residents to form bridge groups.
- Pupils from local schools visit Highfield to play chess with residents if they wish, or to chat.
- Where possible residents are given lifts into Marlborough so that they can go shopping or visit the bank.
We maintain links with the local community in Marlborough, and we provide the venue, for example, for charity coffee mornings. Our residents are always encouraged to participate in these events.
We do all we can to help our residents to welcome visitors.
- Family and friends are welcome to visit at any time. They may join the resident in their own room or in the lounge.
- Family or friends may also join our residents for lunch at a dedicated table in the lounge area.
